Port of Antwerp-Bruges strengthens relations with India
The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is launching a roadshow in India from November 18 to 22, visiting New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. Led by Vice President Luc Arnouts, the delegation aims to strengthen ties with India, a key trading partner. Seven companies from the port community will join, highlighting the region’s strategic importance. The roadshow will feature industry meetings, site visits, and discussions on sectors like renewable energy, logistics, and green molecules. This initiative builds on a long-standing relationship, furthering collaboration in both trade and energy transition efforts.

Adani Gangavaram Port sets timber log handling record
Adani Gangavaram Port, India’s deepest and most modern port, set a new record by processing 4,392 and 4,206 MT of timber logs on consecutive days for the MV Mangusta, surpassing its previous single-day record of 2,900 MT. This achievement reflects the port's significant investments in infrastructure and railway facilities, enhancing cargo processing efficiency. With a 52% growth, the port is set to break more operational records in FY24. Its advanced infrastructure and focus on safety enable high output, offering clients industry-leading services and faster turnaround times.

Delhi stretch of Mumbai-Delhi Expressway will open
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, set to open its Delhi section on November 12, marks a major milestone in India's infrastructure development. This six-lane highway, part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana project, will reduce travel time between Delhi and Mumbai by 50%, cutting the journey to just 12 hours. It connects key economic hubs and offers improved access to ports like JNPT and greenfield airports such as Navi Mumbai and Jewar. With an investment of Rs 5,500 crore, the expressway is poised to ease traffic, especially along congested routes like Mathura Road.

Hapag-Lloyd signs contract for 24 new buildings
Hapag-Lloyd has signed contracts with Chinese shipyards to build 24 new container ships, investing US$ 4 billion. The ships, with a combined capacity of 312,000 TEU, will be delivered between 2027 and 2029. Twelve vessels, each with a 16,800 TEU capacity, will expand existing services, while twelve 9,200 TEU ships will replace older vessels. Equipped with low-emission, dual-fuel engines, the new ships can run on biomethane, reducing CO2e emissions by up to 95%. This investment aligns with Hapag-Lloyd's Strategy 2030 to modernize and decarbonize its fleet.

Regional feeder lines dip their toes into India-Red Sea trades
India-Middle East-Red Sea trade routes are seeing increased capacity from regional feeder carriers, with vessel-sharing agreements and slots shared with NVOs to ensure cargo support. Newcomers like CULines, CStar, and UGL have launched services, despite the higher risks and insurance costs tied to Red Sea routes. CULines' IMR service connects West India to multiple Red Sea ports. Other carriers, including SeaLead and Folk Maritime, are also expanding services. This influx highlights the growing importance of alternative routes, bypassing the Suez Canal amid disruptions.
